ENTONOX® is a medical gas mixture composed of 50% nitrous oxide and 50% oxygen that produces a pain-relieving and sedative effect without loss of consciousness where rapid onset and offset is required. It is a proven and established analgesic for acute, short-term pain, used for many years in obstetrics and pre-hospital emergency care. However, it is now attracting more interest for a wide range of minor painful procedures including, but not limited to:
venous cannulation for patients of all ages
Classified as a “Pharmacy Only” medicinal gas means that ENTONOX needs to be prescribed and administered under the supervision of specially trained paramedics, nurses or midwives in line with local or national protocols or directives.
On site group training
BOC Healthcare representatives have wide ranging knowledge and expertise in the use and administration of ENTONOX and we can arrange to train a small group of clinical staff at your site. Alternatively we can train a trainer/manager in your organisation, who can then cascade the information internally. (a fee for on-site training may be chargeable to cover the cost of materials and travel).
BOC Healthcare has established a convenient form of education online with its Free Entonox training.
Here you will find everything you need to know about ENTONOX and its use. We are continually adding to this virtual educational resource and because it is centrally controlled it is always up to date and more cost-effective to manage, therefore we do not charge for accessing this form of training.
